Reality Check students from Hunter-Tannersville High School will be hosting a FREE, smoke-free movie event on Saturday, February 27th from 12-3 pm. We will be showing "Inside Out," rated PG and we will be discussing the importance of smoke-free youth rated movies. The first 100 guests get a free popcorn and drink, so don't miss out!

Snow date of March 5th, which would be announced on our Facebook page.

On Saturday, January 2nd, join Reality Check and Tobacco-Free CFE for an afternoon of FREE family entertainment. We know that the holiday season can be stressful and expensive! Join us for a free showing of the rated PG movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip.

Tickets will be available the day of the movie at Cumberland 12 from 12:00-1:30pm. All tickets are first come, first serve.

This event is open to the general public. Feel free to share this event!

Open Mic Night with Taylor LaValley

Reality Check is hosting an Open Mic Night with featured emcee and local favorite musician, Taylor LaValley. You are invited to stop by the ROTA Gallery to share a song, poem, story or just to enjoy a night of entertainment. Free coffee, tea, hot cocoa and small snacks will be available throughout the show.

The Reality Check Open Mic night is being held in celebration of the Great American Smokeout. Reality Check will discuss what the community can do to fight tobacco industry marketing, especially the marketing that influences kids. No matter if you are a smoker or non-smoker, we can work together to protect future generations from predatory tobacco industry marketing.

If you are a current, former or non- smoker and feel strongly about this issue, please feel free to share your personal story during the open mic.

Point of Sale GASO School Event

Reality Check of Columbia & Greene Counties is participating in a POS tobacco marketing GASO event for various schools located in the Capital Region area. In these counties, Taconic Hills Middle and High Schools, Hunter-Tannersville High School, and Coxsackie-Athens High School students are participating in this event. Yard signs with youth smoking information and informational tobacco marketing messaging will be place at the school's entrance every day for a week leading up to GASO on November 19th. Students will read these messages over the announcements as well, and will finish off the week with a tabling event on the actual day of GASO. They will have Reality Check and GASO information to share with other students, staff, and parents.

Reality Check of Clinton, Franklin and Essex county will host a chalk the walk and make up party before the 7th Annual Plattsburgh Zombie Walk.  We will start the afternoon with an our of creating chalk messages at the Farmers Market Parking Lot where the Zombie Walk will take place later that afternoon.  Once finished we will enjoy pizza and making ourselves into spoky, scary, silly zombies.  Participants will then walk with over 300 Zombies with messages about the tobacco industry tricks.

DARE Day

The Town of Cairo Police Department DARE Program will be hosting their annual DARE Day at the Angelo Canna Cairo Town Park. DARE Day is a free, fun day for the children of our community to participate in activities and receive information showing them positive alternatives.
We will have free games, demonstrations, displays, food, prizes etc. Reality Check will be in attendance with a fun activity for local youth.

Tobacco-Free CFE and Reality Check will be hosting a free afternoon at the movies.  On Sunday, September 13th they will be hosting a free showing of Babe the 1995 kids classic about a little pig who could do anything.  They will be partnering with the Strand Theater and the Destination Downtown organizers to bring this event to the community.

Stop by and learn how Reality Check works to protect children from dangerous Point-of-Sale advertisement.

Reality Check of Clinton, Franklin and Essex counties is partnering up with the Plattsburgh High School Green Team to march in the Battle of Plattsburgh Parade.

Take pride in your community and cheer on your local activists who are fighting to reduce, limit and prevent predatory tobacco industry marketing toward youth.  Celebrate your local youth champions and cheer them on for all of their hard work!  

After the parade be sure to stop by downtown Plattsburgh to check out all of the booths and community groups that are holding events all weekend long!

It's the end of another school year! We are so proud and thankful for all of the hard work that our Reality Check members have put forth. 

This final meeting of our school year will be a time to unwind and talk about our summer plans and goals. We will review the work that has been done this year and provide awards for our outstanding members. 

For those going to the 2015 summit there is a mandatory parent meeting at 6:30pm where we will have an informational question and answer session.

Join us for a night of fun, food and pizza as we say farewell to the 2014/15 school year and look forward to the summer of 2015!
