National Night Out

Brentwood North Middle School Reality Check Members share concerns about youth smoking with community leaders at Brentwood Third Annual National Night Out

The average age of a new smoker in New York State is just 13 years old. Brentwood residents and North Middle School students Kellia Wilson, Ashley Chai, and Estefani Benitez  (center L-R)   participated in the Third Annual National Night Out with Suffolk County Legislator Monica Martinez, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart, and members of the Suffolk County Police Department.  The students raised awareness of youth smoking, discussed deceitful marketing practices by the tobacco industry targeting children, and continued the conversation on how communities can contribute to solutions.
